Janice Annette Blocker Garvin, 82, entered into rest on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Janice was a devoted wife to Edwin Garvin – a Pearl Harbor Survivor for 23 years until his passing in 2000. She doted on her only child, Mary Rebecca Garvin, who was conceived after numerous miscarriages. Janice is the grandmother of Mary Michelle “Shelly” Garvin and Madison Arrowood. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Charlene Blocker, niece, Kathy Pitadeniya, nephew, Jeff Lomas, and her special friends, Janet and Paul DeSantis.
Janice was born on October 15, 1943, to the late Jessie Wiggins Blocker and the late Thomas Ackerman Blocker. Janice was a faithful member of Hulon Baptist Church the pandemic in 2020 when she became homebound. She was a devoted member of Disabled American Veteran Auxiliary Unit 43 – Aiken, South Carolina and served many years as their Chaplain. She loved her cats and crafting. She even decorated the halls at Pruitt Health Nursing Home of North Augusta where she was a resident until her passing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Janice’s honor to the Disabled American Veteran Auxiliary Unit 43 – Aiken, South Carolina (P.O. Box 369 Wagener SC 29164).
The family will honor Janice’s life with a private service.
